Sleepy Sean

We all feel sleepy at one time or the other, and when we do, we acquire a set of droopy eyes to accompany the look. Just look at Sean here falling asleep on daddy Clarence’s shoulder. Isn’t he just adorable?

Everything has to start somewhere. Back in 2006, when I was still in the initial stages of building up Andessen DC, I had the opportunity to work with a friend at his company. During that time, I was feeling stuck and did not know what to do since my plans had fail one after the other. My thoughts then became that I could do with some change. My friend needed manpower help with some graphic works so I took up the job on a freelance basis.

From graphical layouts, I eventually went on to produce their product photos as well. It wasn’t that I was good at photography but in the amount of time with the jobs at hand, I’ve grown very fascinated with it. Back then I didn’t even own a DSLR but they had a Nikon D70 in their inventory. We needed images for the company website and product brochures. The product images have to look the part – which is slightly upmarket. My background in Product Design and Mass Communication probably helped in the development of these images. It became something that I enjoy doing. I would have a concept in mind, discuss it with the design team, get down to the photography and then go back to the team for feedback. They would then complete the works with the final touch up. I like the team effort which also allows me to be creative. The stint however lasted only for about half a year until my own schedule clashed with the team’s expectation.

The idea for Eubiq came from the company chairman’s vision of having an ubiquitous power plug that could be plugged in anywhere along a power strip. I thought that it was rather ingenious considering that there are many applications that this idea can work really well on. An application is to use it with the huge conference table in the meeting room. Imagine being able to plug in your laptop and any work devices anywhere along the tabletop. Wouldn’t that be convenient?

Ubiquitous – I learned a new word from the experience. Thinking back now, I was probably being ubiquitous too.

Baby Sean

Baby Sean came into this world on 6th January 2010. His talent could very well be dancing.

I was up at Clarence and Sandra’s place on the evening of Sean’s 22nd day. Sean had stay up throughout the night before so he was sound asleep when I arrived. While my objective was to take pictures of newborns while they were sound asleep, Clarence and Sandra were adamant to wake Sean up for the shoot and tried ways and ways to get the chubby baby to open his eyes. Naturally they couldn’t of course so we decided to break for dinner and I took the opportunity to have a good chat with Clarence whom I have not met in a long while.

While Clarence and I chatted, Sandra did her magic and Sean was up. I spotted this rubbery blue mat which had these lovely cubic patterns and decided to use it as a backdrop. The parents then left Sean on the mat. Up until this point, all of us, including the grand-parents still do not know what to do with him. What could make things special? And just like magic, I think Sandra played a musical CD and Sean started moving. He was throwing his little fists and kicking his little feet. Sean was starting to dance. He was grooving to the music and he is enjoying it. He doesn’t seem capable of stopping as he showed us moves after moves. I was left with no choice but to hold on to the shutter that went click, click, click and click. A star was born.

Thank you Sean. You delighted us. You showed us how to dance.

Baby Wayne

Another one from the archives. This time it’s Baby Wayne born 6th November 2008.

It was a long labour for first time mummy Bee Ling before Wayne finally arrives. When he grows up I want Wayne to know how hard it was for mummy to bring him into this world. Daddy Soon Yong was almost at a lost of words when I asked him how he felt about being a father. Everything seems to be a flash and it was only when he was cradling Wayne in his arms that he finally felt the emotions.

When I get to taking Wayne’s picture, he couldn’t keep still. Look how expressive he was. What do you think he was trying to tell me?

Baby Zeniel

I’ve dug this out from my archives. The day was 12th April 2007. It is the day that Zeniel was born.

His dad is Riya and his mum is Jenn. I wanted to give them something memorable so I went down to Thomson Medical with my cam. The result was this which I processed to give it a sepia tone, and gifted to the proud Riya & Jenn in a dark brown wooden frame.

Why the love for newborns? In one word – Innocence.

Ain’t ever gonna let you go

If there’s someone that you really really love, will you ever let them go?

Between the vines, she looks so fine

Shan was adjusting her gown in between the shoot with Michel doing the art direction. There’s something about the vines that Michel really likes. It’s not that I mind because here is one that I felt and like.

I will walk you there

Very rarely would I try to direct a scene but if I feel one I’ll make one.

Envisioning the couple walking together by the side of the tracks, I requested that Shan be walking on the platform while William supports and hold her hand. Squeezing many frames on the shutter, here’s one that is just right. I just love the way they were looking at each other.

Forever Begins Teaser

FOREVER BEGINS – That is what was written on William and Shan’s wedding invite. I can’t help but tease them about being Shrek and Fiona as that was what came to my mind with the recent release of Shrek Forever After. LOL!

And so a tease and a teaser, their wedding day is on July the 1oth while Andessen Imagery is set to be unveiled on June the 6th. It’s all coming soon…
